Hi
Is there a list of which types of SAM components return a 'Down' status versus those that return statuses like 'Critical' or 'Warning'?
For example, I know that a service component returns a 'Down' status when the service is down.
Thanks.
You can find the list of all component monitors here
SAM component monitors
Your statement is not completely correct, if a particular component monitor has any sort of thresholds in it that is when you will see warning/critical. Up/Down is for the status of component monitor itself.
You will need to go through each of these on the link to understand what each one of it does.
Hope this helps.
Correct me if I wrong- if there are no thresholds, "Powershell script" component depends on the exit code (mentioned or not in the script).
I can even think on more components . . .
yes, but there isn't a list like the one you are looking for in documentation or kb which will tell you which components will post Up/Down or which will post Warning/Critical.
In SAM, components return different statuses based on their state. A "Down" status typically indicates that a service or component is completely unavailable, such as when a service is not running. A "Critical" status usually means the component is still operational but experiencing severe issues, such as high CPU usage or critical disk space thresholds. A "Warning" status indicates that the component is functioning, but there are issues that should be addressed, like disk usage nearing capacity. For a more detailed list specific to your environment, you should refer to the SAM system's documentation.
