Greetings all.
Monitoring my Solarwinds database with... Solarwinds AppInsight for SQL.
Seeing both workfiles and worktables per second running about 200-400, which puts both in the critical range for AppInsight SQL out-of-box thresholds, and well over the Microsoft recommended values of < 20.
I've read enough about these counters that I have a general ideal of what they do.
A couple of questions, though, about workfiles / worktables per second, as they work in Solarwinds.
- to these get written to tempdb?
- Does having more memory (RAM) in my server reduce the performance impact of high workfile/worktable activity?
- Any other input from the community about these counters and Solarwinds.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
