Any suggestions for a large discovery?

So I am trying to put all cisco devices into NCM for inventory.  I use a seed router for discovery but I have a large network.  It of course sees all clients on the network as well so it discovers about 19,000 devices and I only need about 2000 of them.

 

Is there anyway to make the discovery look for Cisco devices only?

 

Also, the discovery got stuck on 1 IP address and for a day it kept hitting it with SNMP queries and would not move off of it.  So it actually never finished.    Any thoughts on that?

You've got a couple of choices:

1) Use Engineer's Toolset Network Sonar, which provides more control over the export process.  You can export to a file and import that into NCM.

2) Use Orion NPM for discovery and then use the NCM import Orion node job.

That sounds like a bug either on our side or on the device side.  Please open a support ticket.   We'll likely need to look at the packet trace to see what's going on there.
