Pushing IOS to stacked Cisco switches

While updating the switches, we encountered an issue with deploying the update to stacked switches. Regrettably, only one of the switches updated successfully, while the other entered bootstrap mode. The resolution involved rolling back the updated switch to a previous version and booting the other switch with the same version. After completion, the network was restored. Is there a way to push out the update over SolarWinds to a stacked switch set up?

Are your switches in install mode or bundle mode?

you need to see NCM as a SSH-Robot. I usually ask my clients „show me how you do that manually over the CLI“ then we build the templates from this „process“

I agree with HerrDoktor, just write a script as to how you would do the process manually. That way it will work like a charm.

They are in bundle mode. We attempted to use the 3850 templates on the 9300 and they were working up until we hit our first stack upgrade. After we came across our issue, we looked at the template it stated it could not be used in a stacked configuration. I was just wondering as far as the templates go what I can put into it to install it on a stack?

We are tracking this internally under OO-39344. It is something that is high on our list. We hope it is something that could be delivered in a future release, but there are a lot of moving parts. In the mean time, you can manually create a script like @HerrDoktor and @superfly mentioned.

You mimic most manual processes. In the templates You can „re-purpose“ some steps for other things. Once you abstract the whole template as a series of SSH commands you can make most of the tasks work. It’s not out of the box unfortunately, but you can get quite creative with those templates.
