Alerts based on group

Hello,

I want to filter out some alerts that are just based on my uplink interfaces. I have created a group that includes all the uplink interfaces I want to be a part of the Alert but am having trouble finding a way to get the Alert to filter on only those interfaces. It seems like it either reports on the group as a whole or when I choose to report on interfaces there is no option to filter on the group

Just to be clear, what you are asking for is technically possible, *BUT* it's just awful, confusing, and unmaintainable unless you have several people fluent in SWQL.

The proper answer is "custom properties" as has already been suggested. If you still want the groups for other reasons, then create the group as a dynamic query based on the custom property.

Now with all that said, *IF* you wish to pursue the wrong path ( because there is a 0.0001% chance this is actually a better choice ), then you get to the point where you have an alert working with a custom SWQL exactly the way you want, and I'll show you how to limit it down to members of the group.
