export historical configurations prior to sunset

In asking our network team to unmute or manage existing equipment I received the response of "The unmanaged network devices are sunset. We keep the SolarWinds node so that we have the historical configurations." Is there a way to store the configs still in SW with out having to maintain the node

Ideally configs will be present in polling server as per retention period set for backups, also check the config purge jobs

Summary:

When you remove a node in SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager (NCM), the archived configurations associated with that node are not automatically deleted from the local server. The configurations remain in the archive folder unless you manually delete them or configure a job to purge old configurations, or have a Job to delete archived configurations.

If you want to keep the configurations before removing the node, you can back them up to another location. The default location for archived configurations is typically

There is no way to retain the historical configs in the DB if you delete the device.

What we do is also have the configs exported as well and we can then retain the physical copied as individual text files.
