2024.4 Fortigate SDWAN

Has anyone with the new update got SDWAN working with Fortigates? We are running SDWAN on all of our units but no data is coming in. Is there anything special needing to be done? I know this is a new feature so there isn’t much documentation on the subject.

Can you walk through any steps you went thought for the setup?

The process should be
1. Add the orchestrator in Manage Nodes > Add Node

2. input the Fortinet API information.

The the Add Node wizard doesn't do a discovery, then after the node is added, drill into its Node Details page and there should be a button to discover devices in the Management widget. Screenshot I have is for Meraki but the process should be the same.

Ahh thats the issue. We are using SDWAN directly on the Fortinet devices, not the orchestrator from Fortimanager

I am just trying to add our local on prem Fortimanager, but it asks for a client ID when I select API and Fortimanager.

Does this only work with cloud based Fortimanager instances?

Apparently yes, I just closed a ticket with SolarWinds support. After a lot of back-and-forth, they finally confirmed that the proposed solution is only supported for the cloud version.

However, it’s worth noting that I previously opened a ticket with Fortinet to understand what this Client ID is, which SolarWinds requires to integrate the FortiManager orchestrator. They told me it’s outdated and no longer in use. For the API, I only need the login and password.

same here, would be great if they could create monitoring SDWAN on the FortiGates themself not everybody uses the fortimanager
