Backup/Restore components and template configurations

Looking to backup configuration with ability to restore individual components/templates if needed. Rather than doing a full database restore if some things were removed or changed that weren't supposed to. Would anyone have any ideas on how to go about that?

Don't edit a template. Copy it and edit the copy. That way you still have the original.
