File existence Monitor dynamic file names

Hi Team

We are going to backup Cisco ISE or other network security configurations, but we find that those applications have their own backup function, e.g. upload by SFTP to some servers.

But how to monitor the files were created?

1. Could the SAM monitor the SFTP uploading behavior or logs? then if there is no file uploaded at some day, it will send out an alert?

2. On the other hand, could it monitor the uploaded files? for example: the latest backup configuration file is CiscoISE_backup_11092024.bak, how the File Existence Monitor the files which were periodically created？

You can definitely do both of these using the script monitors

As the file name is like CiscoISE_backup_ddmmyyyy.bak , could I set a variable in the File Existence Monitor, and the variable is the value from get-date() ?

I can't find this settings in FEM template portal, and it seems it can only monitor the fixed file name.

Yes this is doable, but you'd probably need to switch to the powershell/bash/external etc script monitor.

$path = "path"
$yesterdaywithformat = ((get-date).AddDays(-1)).ToString("ddmmyyyy")
$dirobjects = Get-ChildItem -path $path | Where-Object -FilterScript {$.filename -contains $yesterdaywithformat}

etc etc
