IPAM not updating hostnames

IPAM is not updating hostnames. The DNS server is connected and it can scan it successfully. It accurately lists all the zones on the server. There is a reverse zone with the correct information. The subnet in IPAM is set to the correct DNS server/zone and it's configured to allow updates. I've rescanned about 6 times, but no go. It marks the IP as in use, but does not update the hostname for any entry.

We are a very large organization and have many different DNS servers and zones . This is happening across the board. This has actually been happening for quite some time but today I'm annoyed to ask about it.

We're running SAM version 2024.2.0

Have you looked into this article? IPAM relies on reverse DNS to populate hostnames for IP Addresses. If those reverse records do not exist then the hostname field we remain blank.

Yes. The reverse zone is there and correct.

I would suggest for you to check which Polling engine the IP Address is assigned to and then run the command from that article.

If it returns a record that it should return a hostname. If it is not returning, try forcing it by editing the IP and put in a value. It should update or put it to blank if the scanning is working for that IP. If it does not, then the scanning for the IP address/ Subnet is disabled.
