Need to monitor few ports in Linux servers which is monitored under SNMP, how can we achieve this?

if we should use the SAM template what would be the credentials for the connection as we can't use the WMI credentials and I'm not finding any option to add SNMP credentials of the server in the SAM template, can anyone please help on this?

Please let me know if you need more info this.

1) Just to be clear, tcp port monitor will not verify the SSL cert. It will only open the connection, wait for a response, close the connection and record the response time. If you need to monitor the validity of the SSL cert, that is a different discussion.

2) Correct. tcp port monitoring does not require credentials.

3) Just another point to be clear. The connection will be "from" the solarwinds poling engine, "to" the linux machine. If you needed the connection to come "from" the linux machine you would need to install the solarwinds agent and change polling method on the SAM template. I mention this because the "from" and "to" become important if there is a firewall involved.

By "monitor a few ports", do you mean TCP ports? and are they accessible from the polling engine? If the answer to these is yes, then create a new SAM template and add a "tcp port monitor" component to it. Then you have to choose to A) add more components to that template for each port, or create a template for each one, or C) assign that template multiple times and override the port number.

port 8470 and port 8430 ssl cert monitoring ports, for these ports without assigning any cred I'm getting the output and I'm good for now.

but from your suggestion I understood that for TCP port monitoring we don't need any credentials if the SolarWinds can be able to poll from the Linux machines am I right? it will help in future
