hello guys ,,
i want to retrieve a weekly report for a group of nodes during business hours only.
in the custom period i only get to set to specify start and end periods.
anyone i can achoeve that?
Roughly:
Where datetime > xand datetime < y
and hour(datetime) > 9and hour(datetime) < 18
Can do day() >1and day() <6 too for usual weekends
What is it that your pulling out of these reports ? It could be simple or complicated based on your business hours. If you are talking about weekly reports for just 9 hours a day over a week it becomes complicated and you can't use a generic rule. In that case you will need to think about scheduled maintenance on that group of devices (where it will be unmanaged automatically outside of business hours where you do not monitor/alert on the device anymore in SolarWinds outside of office hours) post which you run reports so that the reports are accurate enough. This is a straight forward approach that I would take assuming you are interested only in business hours - if this cannot be done then...
You will need to reach out to our guru's in SQL/SWQL world - which I am not good at. There are a few great folks like @adam.beedell and others who will be able to pull it off provided you give them more information on the use case.
Hope this helps.
(We've all got day jobs, cant be spending all day writing SWQL for people all the time I'm afraid, but I'll paste stuff in when I've got it to hand or if diving into it is interesting enough)
totally agree, your posts have helped me a lot and I always read them when its from you Thanks a ton
No need for custom swql, can do business hours filtering in the GUI easily enough
