Getting disk stats from agent?

We have a solarwinds engineer assisting us with getting everything setup, and we installed the agent on a few nodes to see what stats we could get on our windows nodes.

We tried using the Disk volume widget but it wasnt returning anything. Our engineer said the agent couldnt get any disk stats, and we had to use WMI with a admin account. The windows admins dont mind installing an agent, but theyre not too crazy about the idea of using admin accounts for monitoring.

Is there a way to monitor disk stats (actually just disk space used) other than WMI? Would it be possible to grab output from a powershell script perhaps?

The agent can obtain disk volume stats. Its local WMI but its going to be run as Local System account. SNMP can also fetch disk metrics, if you configure it which isn't too hard.

Can you log in locally to the server as administrator (for testing) and open wbemtest ? Then hit connect, then connect again (w/o entering any creds) Then hit query. Then attempt to query this - do you get results?
SELECT Caption, VolumeName, VolumeSerialNumber, Size, FreeSpace, DriveType, MediaType FROM Win32_LogicalDisk

Did you List Resources on the node in the console? You must List Resources and select the disk volumes to add for monitoring - assuming WMI or agent is fully functional.
