Create a dashboard that is based on nodes with a common custom property field.

I am trying to create a dashboard for our application groups that only show nodes and applications that they are associated with as the owner.

We have created a custom property field for nodes called "team"

I would like the dashboard to display the following items:

Base monitoring items (CPU, Disk, Memory, etc)
Any active alerts
Any systems that are unmanaged or muted
Any applications associated with the nodes.

I am a very new to solarwinds and its dashboards, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If classic:
- Add a view
- Add a filter, filter by that thing
- (and/or add the filter to the resources on that page)

If modern

- Add a dashboard
- Either make a a generic dash, then set the URL filter (search for more info) to that. I think there's a configurator coming in later patches for this.
- Or add the filter to each query on that dashboard

Sounds like you need a service wrapper here. I do this for any new service that is stood up inside environments. It isn't really something you want to automate and is a fair amount of hard work to keep it updated. As Adam pointed out getting your views and resources right is critical. The way I would do it is to use Orion Maps. I would draw it all out on a piece of paper with the team you want to provide the service wrapper for and then get that into Orion Maps. When you have done this you can assign the maps to the relevant teams in SolarWinds itself without using custom properties or you can use a view limitation and assign the team.

Then once i've got all my apps, databases, hardware, server O/S monitored in my map I would create a critical services dashboard and use the Orion Map we have just created as an embedded map within this new critical services map.

Then you have one pane of glass for you and assignable team maps for each of the responsible teams.

The maps will flag up unmanaged nodes and any problems with any of the monitored resources.

I always like visual solutions it helps to train others and to provide documentation. I've been in environments where instead of using visio we used Orion Maps to display our architecture diagrams.
