How to detect snmp failure...?

SW pings a node for up|down status ever two minutes and polls for date (snmp) every 10 minutes.

An alert will fire when the node is down based on icmp.

This if for Cisco routers and switches so an agent is not possible.

I cannot find nor figure out that if snmp fails how to get an alert to fire.

Ideas, suggestions comments.................

Not 100% sue I follow your query... and apologies if this is teaching you to suck eggs..

For SNMP you need to configure the end node for SNMP and then enable snmp monitoring of the node under 'edit properties' of the node(s). SNMP will then do its poll cycle (based on your poll cycle settings) and if a fault / issue is detected, then SW will trigger based on your alert settings.

If that doesn't help then please come back with some more info.

There's an OOTB alert for "not responding", that's what you want

This will show you when a node's lastsystemuptimepollutc hasn't been updated which is a great indicator that SNMP is not functioning.
