Assistance Needed: Adding FortiAP to Solarwinds

We recently replaced Cisco wireless APs with Fortinet APs that are controlled by a Fortigate. Seems the FortiAP are supported now but I cannot add them/or discovery find them. Tried different OID in the UDP and with the ip added tried defining. No luck.

Has anyone seen this before and know a way to have automatic discovery of AP's connected/ managed by FortiGate and connected to FortiSwitch added in SolarWinds? Do we need to define a poller, and then match all the ip's manually? What OID would be relevant here? We have AP's ranging from 231F, 231G and 221E.

FortiAP are not fully supported in product today. However, we are hoping to bring that support in during our Q4 release. It would work similar to how the Cisco WLC support works where we add the wireless controller and it'll discover the APs behind it.

You can at least add each AP as a node for now to get basic up/down and interface util (if snmp enabled)

Good to hear . Each FortiGate is it's own controller unlike Cisco where each AP registers to a specific WLC.

Discovery now doesn't seem to find anything Fortinet connected to a FortiGate, Fortiswitches included. Although, the switches were added manually. Is this correct based on support now and will it be able to in the future pick up any downstream Fortinet devices? Similar to Cdp discovery in Cisco environments , not sure how solarwinds does that.

We are investigating FortiSwitches too, but that might be a 1H 2025 timeline. General plan is to do this by polling the FortiGate API and discovering from there. APs would be automatic, while other Fortinet devices might use the API to discover what is there but then use that as a seed in our own Network Discovery over SNMP.
