Thank you for your response. By looking up relevant information, I have come to the conclusion that fusion splicing is more expensive than mechanical splicing, but it lasts longer with extremely low loss. According to the website, benefit me greatly.
Fusion Splicing is melting the glass ends together. Mechanical splicing usually involves a clamping or an epoxy bond to the 2 pieces of fiber. Over time, those 2 ends might separate, particularly over years of cold/hot fluctuations. Which will slowly degrade the signal until its gone, and you have to re-splice.
Most of the splicers I've seen used by technicians are Fusion, can't tell you why and which is more recommended.
