RRAS/AOVPN server monitoring.

Hi folks,

This question was asked by Serjei over 4 years ago with little interest. Has anyone picked up an RRAS solution to monitor since then? I'm looking at creating alerts but currently have no idea of thresholds.

There are RRAS SAM applications baked into Solarwinds, Microsoft Routing and Remote Access 2016 and Microsoft Routing and Remote Access 2016 (Events), but since we're not currently monitoring such a solution I have no idea as to what consitiutes a performance hit that needs to be alerted on.

Any pointers much appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. We were waiting to actually get a RRAS server to explore but that's not moving as quickly as we thought. Meanwhile, someone came up with this list of monitorable attributes which I suspect is pulled straight from the Microsoft Documentation. Currently I only have an alert for the RRAS service itself. Are any of the others actually achievable?

What are you looking for in specific? Currently for our RRAS servers we mainly monitor the RasMan service as that has been a constant service which has been going down and causing drop outs for users.

If you want some ideas I can send over the set up for that alert and that could hopefully give you some help or ideas
