HCO & Platform Connect

Hi THWACK,

Our SolarWinds instance is now running HCO 2024.2.0.

We do not have 'SolarWinds Observability', only 'Hybrid Cloud Observability'.

From your experience, does that then mean there is no benefit/need to configure Platform Connect?

I read that Platform Connect is there to bridge SW Observability and SW HCO.

You can use it also for the "anomaly based alerts", and probably more AI stuff going forward. You don't need a paid version of SWO for that, just an eval. So there are some use cases for setting up the connection even though you will not actively use SWO.

Apologies, I have just re-read the requirements of for Platform Connect and it states needing: "an active SolarWinds Observability instance (full or evaluation)", which we do not have.

So it looks as though Platform Connect is not applicable to HCO-only-environments. I understand now that it is just to collect data purely from SolarWinds Observability to be displayed in your HCO deployment (correct me if I am wrong of course).

So, please disregard this, thank you.

Ditto to what @Seashore said. You start an evaluation of SWO to create the token required to link your HCO to SolarWinds for the Anomaly Alerting. The anomaly alerts will be getting more improvements/capabilities over time too. What it does is send specific metrics up to SolarWinds that are used for these new alerts. The alerts themselves are controlled in your HCO instance.

@Seashore and @marcrobinson are correct. I encourage you to look at Anomaly-Based Alerts we have seen customers with really well designed alerts still have significant noise reduction because of the AIOPs and Machine-learning technology on the SaaS Platform.
