I've been planning to upgrade solarwinds from version 2023.2.1 to 2024.2. Can someone please provide a full guidance along with prerequisites to proceed ?

If you're not migrating servers or databases and just upgrading then it's fairly straightforward. Extra servers like additional polling engines, high availability, etc add complexity but without knowing what you've got or if you're doing an online or offline upgrade it's hard to say.

I agree with everything @shuth has said, but there is one more Gotcha for the 2024.1 version.
Port 17778 was historically used for the SolarWinds REST API. However, this has now been moved to 17774 on 2024.2. Note that Agent-initiated communication will remain on 17778
If you are using anything custom to leverage the SolarWinds API, you may need to allow 17774 in your firewall rules, or they may stop functioning.
