Getting an error while deploying solarwinds agent 2023.4.2 on IBM AIX 7.2 server.

Question

Dear All,

We are experiencing an error while deploying solarwinds agent 2023.4.2 on IBM AIX server. Furthermore, solarwinds agent is working on other AIX servers and this issue is limited to one server only.

Our Unix admin has compared the configuration of working and non working AIX servers and both servers are having similar configurations. .

IBM Aix OS - 7.2
Solariwnds agent version- 2023.4.2

I agree, the install appears successful. I'd advise running this command and see if you can configure the agent to talk to the SolarWinds server

/opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/swiagentaid.sh init

after executing the initialize command you will be asked to enter in ip/hostname of SolarWinds server, & credentials to verify you have node management rights.

I'd also advise opening a ticket w/ support.

Don't have too much experience with AIX, but It seems the swiagent package was installed successfully. However, you encountered RPM errors:

* rpm_share: 0645-007 ATTENTION: whichfs() returned an unexpected result.
* rpm_share: 0645-007 ATTENTION: get_rpm_inst_root_list() returned an unexpected result.
* rpm_share: 0645-007 ATTENTION: update_inst_root() returned an unexpected result.

I think you have to focus on these errors (0645-007).

* Verify the correct configuration of the file system (whichfs) and installation root (get_rpm_inst_root_list, update_inst_root).
* Check directory existence and permissions.
* Look for missing files or broken symbolic links.
* Consider increasing /opt size if space is an issue.
