Ooops ... We detected a problem ... During Solarwinds Setup Wizard

Hello all,

I am trying to get my very old version of NPM 12.0 upgraded to NPM 2020.2.6 ... During the install of NPM 2020.2.6 I am getting an error "Ooops .. We detected a problem" and unable to proceed. Has anyone run into this issue ?

You will need to contact support to aid you with this as the version gaps are huge. There could be any number of issues to overcome and I would expect you'll need to do any upgrade in stages.

Plus, why only upgrade to 2020 when the newest version is 2024.1.1 ?

I thought I can go from 12.0 to 2020.2.6 ?? I do not have support with Solarwinds at this time. I will eventually upgrade to the latest version once I get the budget to renew support. I just want to get to 2020.2.6 for now.

So I migrated the database to a newer version of SQL (SQL 2022 64 Bit). When I run the NPM 12.0 configuration wizard to connect to the new SQL server ... I am getting this error ... any ideas ?

The age of NPM 12 is the challenge. Version 2020.2.6 doesn't support SQL 2022.

You'll need to review both the OS that Orion is running and the version of SQL.

If I were you, I'd stick with Windows Server 2016 and SQL server 2016 SP1 (minimum) for this migration.

Then upgrade NPM 12.0 to 2020.2.6, once on that version you can jump to 2024.2. After you're on the latest version of SolarWinds, then focus on upgrading the OS/SQL to the newer versions.

of course, there are some who might argue that building everything back in Orion from scratch might be faster than an attempted migration.
