Container monitoring requirements (Kubernetes)

Hello everyone,

I just read the requirement of K8s container monitoring.

It states that Kubernetes monitoring does not support HA failover on a poller. We suggest monitoring Kubernetes containers from a poller not part of an HA group.

• This feature is not supported in:
  • High Availability (HA) environments, or
  • FIPS-enabled environments. If containers were added before FIPS mode was enabled, remove them from nodes and delete the container service. Otherwise, polling continues but metrics are not saved.

What does it mean? What is the meaning of poller here? Does it mean that we cannot install SolarWinds with HA feature if we want to monitor K8s' containers?

We have several modules with SAM including HA license.

The container monitoring works it gets locked in to just the host you set it up on and there is not currently a way to automate switching the container monitoring settings when Orion has an HA failover because it requires someone to manually run commands on the container host.  So during a failover on your secondary node you would not get any container data until you switch back to the original server because the container platform is still going to be trying to send data to the old target.  

That's all kind of clunky and annoying , hence why SW just says its not supported by them.  There probably are tricks you could come up with to work around it, like maybe having an alert action on failover that would SSH into the container host and make the necessary changes, but I haven't had the need to try and figure them out myself yet.
