USAGE REPORT

Hello Guys,

I have a task from my CIO to pull the USAGE report for the following modules we have in our environment of HCO,

1. SAM

2. NCM

3. NTA

4. NPM

Can someone please tell me the best report to share with him as I can't seem to find the USAGE report in all of the reports on the platform.

This reports are needed before a renewal of contract for another year is signed off with SOLARWIND VENDOR.

Kindly advise.

Two things you can do to give you an instant (ish) overview of your SW estate:

1) Download the 'SolarWinds Platform License/Polling Usage Summary' report from here. It gives you all the info SteveK mentions but laid out in a much easier to understand manner, to me anyway.
2) Create a diagnostic bundle on your poller(s) and upload it to the Customer Support website under Technical Support. SW will parse the logs and generate a full usage report showing all the details needed for such a decision.

The main question I have is what is your definition of usage?

Under Settings -> Database Details -> Total Elements per poller, will give Node, Volume, Interface, and component counts per polling engine

Settings -> License Details: Gives a break down of item count per license type.

So it really depends on what you mean by usage?

Thanks fop how do I Create a diagnostic bundle on your poller(s)? Is there a knowledgebase on solarwind website outlining the step by step process of how to do this?

Go to customersupport.solarwinds.com and log in, then go to this menu:

The Environment Reviews page explains the process, but handily gives the wrong location for the Diagnostics collection tool, on my Poller(s) it's in Start -> Solarwinds Platform -> Solarwinds Diagnostics. Run that and click 'start and save diagnostics' and the zipfile will be put on the desktop.
