Main Poller loses ping function...

So twice in the last 3 months my main poller has lost its ability to ping. The issue seems to be related to the SW knowledge base article " Repair a failing Job Engine, Collector, and Information Service in the Orion Platform" . My question is if there is anyway to create an alert that tests the ping function on the main poller to see if it still works? Hopefully I explained this so people can understand me. Thanks.

If you actually wanted to test ping, you could write a quick powershell for it to ping loopback, or could alert if the node representing your server/s was down.

I think what you actually want is the "not responding" alert, there's one canned now and many threads on there using that phrase, I posted a bulk one a while back
