Solarwinds Ansible Integration for Agent Management?

Hi,

We have a question.

We have different inventories in different locations around the world. We have a polling engine setup for each location. We want to deploy an agent from the center to the servers in the relevant locations via Ansible and go to the location of the server and enter the relevant polling engine through the agent config file. I couldn't find a detailed article about this.

When we run the commands seen in the screenshot, we see that the agent is not active.

My first question is, what parameters do we need to send to activate the agent via Ansible?

My second question is, after activating the agent, how can I make configuration changes regarding which polling engine it should be monitored via Ansible?

Somewhat posting to track the conversation, as I'll probably need to do this in future

The settings that seem missing is Agent-initiated or server-initiated, and if agent then the poller IP, which is probably 2. in the screenshot above

yep, option 2 needs to be the hostname or IP of the polling engine you want this agent to register with.

To the second question, there is probably some way to update the configuration of the agent and restart it, but i've not seen the docs for how to do that so I usually just re eploy the agent if I need to make changes like that.

Had a deep dive into agent stuff early in the week or late late week, on the windows end at least.

The MST file contains all the details needed, and details about polling engine etc end up in a config file int he agent directory. I dont think with an ansilble deployment you should be touching the options screenshot really

Making changes with the config file and a agent restart almost certainly works, but redeploying is probably the safer way to go

Still need to actually try much of this in prod.
