Wrong usage CPU/Memory some devices

Hello,

I have two nodes configured (QNAPs and Sophos) but it's giving me the wrong data.

QNAP is almost always giving me around 96% memory or CPU usage in SolarWinds, but when I go to the QNAP management console or use the "TOP" or "CAT" command, I see a different value. The same situation occurs in Sophos Firewall.

These are the resources selected for monitoring:

For QNAP, the node is Critical and one of the reasons is the Memory Utilization of 96%

Hi s.calisto,

For the QNAP devices, have a little explore of 1.3.6.1.4.1.24681.1.2 (QNAP systemInfo), and you'll find the vendor's CPU, Mem Total and Free presentations. These might give a more realistic view.

Sophos however appears to just use the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB, and I can't find any other vendor/enterprise specific OIDs that might help. Maybe a call to your Sophos Support for their advice?

It is SNMP, right?

I think it would be a good idea to reach out to the device's vendor and ask for the correct OIDs for this device. Then you can create a custom poller: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/npm/content/core-creating-device-studio-pollers-sw2534.htm

You can log onto the SolarWinds server and open the install directory (C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\) and find the "Solarwinds.PollerChecker.Gui.exe" to see if there are other pollers that can be used against that device. Supported pollers by the device will be listed in green. Some devices have alternative pollers that work better.

I'm going to create a custom poller for Sophos, I've contacted the vendor and I'm waiting for the OID.

I am facing the same challenge with Sophos not polling the right information, even its hostname shows up as SNMP_Agent instead of its real value. Also on NCM it fails to do a backup so we cannot do comparisons or change detection. Were you able to get feedback from Sophos support ? I believe once i am able to fix the NPM side, the NCM should fall into place. Please share any info
