Enabling Azure MFA for Serv-U LDAP or Active Directory users for the web-based login page of Serv-U

Serv-U doesnt support MFA or Azure MFA for LDAP users out of the box.

if you want to secure the web-based login form of your Serv-U setup by enabling the Azure MFA for your AD/LDAP users, i have a custom solution in this case.

@mcbadran961 Yes, We also have a custom solution for LDAP enabled Domain. It would be nice to be able to integrate MS MFA Auth or Google Auth. Looks to me the inbuilt MFA only supported with MFT application based accounts\Domains.

I second this. Can you please share how your custom solution works?

Solarwinds team - please let us know if/when you plan to provide MFA feature for LDAP users too? For a case when Linux install is used, connected using LDAP to AD, but Entra ID is also in place with MFA available.

Hi @pne

The MFT/MFA Solution is from a 3rd party provider, we did this as the users dont belong to our org as such and they not prepared to pay licencing for the usual MS/Google Auth methods.

Effectively the MFT Users that we enabled MFA on are Web Based and in a seperate MFT Domain.

The MFT Domain has its LDAP bind set to the 3rd Party MFA Server/app

We have modified one of the Solarwinds Custom HTML Samples to include a footer to include code to enable users to Obtain an MFA Code

The Users Get a code from a MFT redirected web page which integrates with the 3rd party app

Once the have the code the enter this and passphrase into MFT

the solution is a bit complex and finicky but it works.

Like you I would still like to see better MFA integration on LDAP and Windows Authentication in Solarwinds
