Disk space auto clean-up on remote servers using external alert action

Hello Thwack members,

Have anyone tried an automation for disk space removal using SolarWinds..?

We have a power shell script which will be executed using an external action. But upon execution, it clears the file space on own SolarWinds polling engine instead of doing it remotely.

Have anyone achieved this disk space removal on remote machines..?

You need to pass along the node caption or IP as a variable when you run the powershell script. Below is how I do it to delete nodes using an alert action, but it would be the same for running any script.

You will also need to have the appropriate rights set up to execute the script on the remote server.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have tried your inputs with certain variables for caption, but it isn't executing it on remote machines, instead as I said earlier, it executes the respective powershell internally on own poller. Not sure why.

Your script also needs to be using psremoting command or invoke-command or something similar to remote execute, the syntax @bobmarley gave would pass in the device caption as an argument that psremoting could use to find the system to connect to. Although I would suggest passing in an IP or a DNS name instead since the captions arent always something that can be resolved.
