SAM Multivalue messages not updating in database

We have a number of SAM monitors running fine until we upgraded to 2023.3.1

Since then the multi value part of the message is not being updated in the DB but the statistic is, so we get alerts generated because of statistic but cant see what error message is.

when i run a test directly on the SAM template it returns both values.

We have a support case with solarwind support but they cant explain it and nothing they have recommended has worked

SInce then we have upgraded again to 2023.4.2 and it is the same result

Has anybody experienced this and know of anything we can try to resolve.

Going out on a limb here:

When you return a bunch of data, assuming it's formatted correctly (check this), solarwinds will try and place it into a socket of sorts. If you've not generated the socket, or it's not found the socket it doesnt go anywhere.

So, there's two Test buttons to think about, one behind the Edit Script button, and one where you checkbox the component. The latter doesnt tend to generate a socket, the former does.

If you're outputting

"Message.something: x"
"Statistic.something: x""

some amount of times, you want to check that at the bottom of the component you have that many "something"s with threshold sections and whatnot.

This can get weird if your intention is to have "something" be a variable, generally i've found it better to do Message.1, message.2 etc.

when i am testing from edit script, this is my output which is valid and correct

and output of the Component monitor test - not sure why that is displaying something different but it is a valid output

But the SAM summary show no values

which is the same as the DB

Solarwind support advise its the agent that is not updating the DB but they cant figure out why

was hoping somebody else might have had this issue and got it resolved

Feels like a bunch of the information one would need is in the cropped part of the screenshots, and I guess it's cropped for a good reason

Do you have it set to local or remote execution? The module error feels like maybe it's running somewhere it shouldnt. But that should be the same across the two "test" results really.

Are you trying to find out if all the event keepalive values are OK per polling engine?

I would enable debugging on that application monitor and review the debug log.

the script runs on the server it is assigned to so assume it will be local execution, so ignoring the fact there are 2 different return messages, 1 saying no quiet devices and the other swql error, on the 2 different tests, when running the monitor it does not display any of these

we will be upgrading to latest release soon so will see if this fixes it, if not will get back on to support

Ended up raising another support case and they now believe this to be a bug, no recommendations from support as yet
