Getting Started with the SolarWinds API

So, you're interested in learning more about the backend data and how to take advantage of the SolarWinds Self-Hosted API?  Great!  This is the place where you can ask those questions or start a discussion with fellow THWACKsters.

I'm going to give you a few of my "best practices" links to help you understand everything you can about the API.

There's a ton of content in the SolarWinds SDK  forum, but what you really need to know is in the [mention:611dcbeac4a744629d169bd937026c93:393e7426ce8b492199490c0b60cb1f1e] wiki.

It's early days, and we'll be updating the wiki as we create or discover content on THWACK that should be in such a repository.

I can't even find simple stuff like, "How to get an API token via REST API".  Is there not documentation on the API available for very simple things like this?  I'm not interested in performing SWQL queries; I want to create objects via the API (like templates) and do configuration as code (Ansible, API calls, etc).  

I'm a linux guy so the Powershell stuff is useless to me.  API calls via curl or Postman is what I need.

It would be beyond useful if this information was made available in the SolwrWinds Platform API wiki.
