Alert on Universal Poller value change

I there a way to setup an Alert on a value change of a Universal Poller? There are 3 Values that this one Poller pulls from an OID. It does not matter was the original value is, all I care is if it has changed.

Basically I got 4 Emmerson HVAC system in the DC. If the lgpEnvStateSystem (1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.4.3.1) value changes from its original value (off, on, or standby), fire off an alert. Example: HVAC-01 was first off and it swapped to on, give me an alert. All 4 are load balanced by a ICOM central system that swaps out the HVAC units every week. Any change outside of that schedule could indicate a problem.

I googled this issue and also searched in Thwack and found some direction but no clear solution since the original status was a wild card swapping to another wild card on the HVAC. Posts where from older version of SolarWinds so there maybe a new feature that I may have missed.

We do something similar for Fortinet FW HA.

Basically the SWQL checks to see if the state has changed from the last time it was polled. You could try that - code block below for editing/adjusting to suit.

This bit is fixed and you can't edit it if you go this way:

I don't believe there is a native GUI based way to trigger a change alert for UNDP values, there are a couple places in the platform where they do have that available OOTB but I dont think UNDP is one of those. What I would probably do is cook up some custom sql/swql to just count the number of unique values for that value over the last 2 polling intervals and trigger an alert when there is more than 1 unique value. I haven't actually had to write the query so I dont have an example code handy, but it should be a fairly straight forward SQL COUNT()

Thank you StuartD! I am breaking this down in my head and maybe over thinking this since I am not much of a SQL Guru and but really good at reserve engineering. Over thinking seems to keep me in perpetual trouble, ha!

In the Alert, since a Node is not set as a condition, this will alert on any Node this CustomPollername is assigned to? Since all 4 HVACs are using the Custom Poller Name lgpEnvStateSystem, it will only alert on those 4 HVACs? When I normally create Alerts, I try to filter down to only those nodes and setup the rule for that Custom Poller. Maybe I am being too gradual in my alert creations.

As for the code, that will be entered in MS SQL Server Manager Studio as a new Query in the SolarWindsOrion DB? Obviously swapping out 'INPUT_NAME_of_Your_UnDP' with 'lgpEnvStateSystem'?
