BGP ASN's and OSPF areas and neighbors in the map

Hi there,

Something that would be nice would be to show on the map view which devices are using BGP, their AS numbers, and their BGP peers as well as OSPF configured on what interfaces and also what areas.

Is this possible or coming? I believe this is a feature other products like Netbrain are starting to do.

Hmm.. You could probably get the AS number on the node by creating a custom property, then you could use an Alert to populate that custom property off the AS number. However, some quick looking by me didn't turn up any obvious AS number for a node. In the RoutingNeighbors table there was the AS of the neighbor, but... . You might be able to get there with some fancy joins, but the BGP neighbor IP isn't always the same as what the device was managed with. Not to mention if the neighbor is external and you don't manage it, there wouldn't be a way to get it at all.

You could always set the custom property manually and that way you'd have it, you could set an alert to remind you to set the custom property on nodes with BGP if it isn't there

Not sure if the same would work for the link. I didn't see a way to display a custom property there...
