Custom HTML not working in HCO NPM, but works in regular NPM

Custom HTML on the HCO hasn't worked for the last several releases. I was hoping it would be fixed - but still no luck. The EnableHtmlLinkSanitization is turned off on both the HCO NPM and the regular NPM.

The regular NPM works fine

The HCO NPM, not so much

I have looked in various logs and do not see any error messages. Also looked in the developers tools and no errors in there.

I did open a case about this back in August 2023 (Case # - 01423748) and the reply I received was the following and the case was quickly closed. The reply references iframe, but the case was any html code.

"known issue with iframes. No. "CUST-23602" for your reference.
Our Dev team is still working on this."

Anyone know what's going on with the Custom HTML widget on HCO NPM?

I'd go back to support and explain it isn't just an iFrame issue. You could also look at release notes to see if 23602 is listed in any fixed versions and if so upgrade to that version.

There's a setting in the global advanced configuration - HTMLResourceSanitizationEnabled, which is likely enabled by default now that will "Enable HTML Widget Sanitization". I can't recall which version this occurred though.

Go to your Global settings page here (change URL for your environment of course) https://solarwinds-platform-server/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx and search for that setting "HTMLResourceSanitizationEnabled" and disable, then save.

Javascript and likely other useful features (however insecure) don't work with that enabled.

The EnableHtmlLinkSanitization is turned off (unchecked). Very first thing I did. There are some thwack articles recommending restarting services after the changes or even rebooting the server. Nothing worked and all new installations using custom html refuse to work. However, anything upgraded from prior versions (Orion 2020) - do work.

@aLTeReGo - any idea on this? This issue has been going on for a while now. You had commented three years ago that it's being tracked internally as CORE-17163. Even with the EnableHtmlLinkSanitization turned off seems like users are still having issues.

Custom HTML Widget (NOT WORKING)??

When I opened a case, I was told that it was being tracked using CUST-23602.

It would be nice to get some sort of a log entry on the possible cause, but I don't see anything in the logs.

A bit frustrating when it works on Orion 2023.2. and not on HCO advanced 2023.3.1.

My bad I completely missed your note that it was already disabled. Sounds like a bug then
