We are trying to use NCM to automate firmware upgrades. When using the discovery, our nodes are found but many of them are found and listed with the network-ip not the interface IP that NCM connected to with SNMP. For example if the device found has actual IP 172.23.0.1 it lists it as 172.23.0.0. It does not do this for every device but for many (~50+%) and we have about 800.
Again, no where on any of these devices do we have the network IP configured. This is a big problem for us as the reason we got the software was to be able to do this discovery instead of manually entering 800+ devices, but now we have to edit 400+ of them anyways, which is very time consuming.
Discovery settings
- SNMP is the only port allowed by the firewall from the NCM station currently (we know we will need tftp eventually)
- Is ICMP required for discovery? i.e. is this our issue?
- we have the switch for icmp devices to be added turned off, so only snmp devices will be added
- we have devices being added automatically at end of the scan.
Does anyone have any idea?
