Dynamic API polling

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get my Pingdom uptime data into a widget in my main Solarwinds Dashboard. I've followed some instructions to get the API poller set up but in the guide it says I need to select the individual bits of data I want to monitor from each check. I'm currently monitoring 52 sites and that is set to increase - so that is a lot of manual work to get the data into a form that can be added to a widget. There's two or three pieces of information I want per check, so that means having to manually add 156 bits of data for this API poller. And then when I add a new site, I apparently need to go into the setting of the API poller and add the new site in there too.

Surely there's a better way to get all of the data in so I can build a widget? Is there a way to get this data in dynamically? As in when I add another 5 sites, it picks the sites up on the API polling  and adds the name/status/response time etc. to the widget automatically?

I once spoke to a solarwinds HQ person who mentioned a feature of this sort somewhere in the works internally, that said it was ages back and i've not heard anything on the topic since.

You can somewhat take this further with scripted stuff of one sort or another, but it's not often very easy or a neat fit. Particularly as it's quite hard to store anything that's not an integer and custom over time

Purely in the apipollers feature, I tend to try and find queries that give counts, or use the array size. Not that that fully resolves the issue, but those tend to scale neatly.. I've tried stuff like setting a threshold on the count at the monitored count, and alerting myself where count above threshold so I know when I need to go update stuff. Not a fan of that bit it's ok. In theory you could create an automation that way.
