Test / Verification plan for Solarwinds NPM NCM UDT IPAM

Thwack Forum,

My organization just finished upgrading our Solarwinds infrastructure from 2020.2.6 to 2023.3.1.

I want to test everything out after the upgrade.

Has anyone ever seen published a list of items to check after an upgrade?

I don't have an itemized list handy, because it's very long, but after an upgrade in my own environments the simple answer is that I check every screen in the GUI that we use, test every feature we use, and validate every script still runs. Especially the last year or two that last part has been a real problem for me because I automated a lot of my system and as SW keeps finding and closing possible security exploits they have also been occasionally breaking my scripts.

I don't blame them, I do some pretty hack stuff sometimes and it makes sense that have to continue to reduce the attack surface of the application.

In any case I've been in this game long enough to know that anything at all could go wrong after an upgrade so I just make the time and spot check it all. Would rather realize there is an issue right away than go along for 2 weeks before my users accidentally stumble into a problem.
