Compellent - Volume Usage-RSM 6.1

Just installed SRM 6.1 yesterday. I did see something curious with volume usage. After I installed it, the basic alerts showed a lot of my volumes are over on disk usage.

On closer investigation I noticed something interesting. SRM seems to be using the statistic that includes total disk space used for Volume including the Replays. For most

volumes this means the total disk space used is more than the actual assigned volume size. For example a 1TB volume might then show 1.48 TB for total volume usage with Replay.

By including the replay size in capacity this makes the stat useless. Has anyone else seen this with Compellent?

In SRM v6.1 there is really that capacity computed together with the replays. I can see the issue for you now and I agree with you that the replays can be really big and thus the system reports what you do not want.

We have been working with Dell and we have currently released SRM 6.2 RC1 that can be found already in customer portal. Also Dell has newer version of Enterprise Manager v2015. If you upgrade both (try to consult that also with Dell representatives for upgrading EM), you can get better view for the volume capacities. Now we should display those capacities without replays that would have more sense for you.

So, if you are still interested in, you can try it and let us know your feedback.
