CONFIGURING LOGS FOR SEM

Hi Guys,

I have a SEM project commencing on Monday, 25th September, 2023 and the Application/Dev team wants some logs to be configured on the Security Event Manager for their alert and monitoring. Could you please share with me on the best way to have the following request below configured:

1. Health of the Server (resources, CPU usage, Disk usage)
2. Task Scheduler
3. Event Viewer (framework, ssl)
4. Web Services/Windows Services

I'm not sure you have the correct product for what you are asking to be setup for alerting and monitoring. If it's in a log file that the SEM can handle you can do it. You can write alerts for anything contained in the logfile or obtained by the local agent. I'm not sure health data is there for you, event viewer? not sure what you want there, the SEM will be your event viewer. services stopping or starting can be captured. either way I would use a different product for health monitoring. There are many.

I agree this is more orion product as this is network performance monitoring that is security related.

You can pull this data with a Windows performance monitor as well if you're in microsoft OS.

There are other products that will work with solarwind and others I recommend reaching out to your rep for trials if need be I do not want to mention other products in this forum but there are some alternatives as well
