This is a great idea - I am not a SQL guru by any means and working it all out for different reports on differing hours depending on location across the globe.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I am looking to do something like this - I have been asked if we can look inside an existing file for a specific strings and report on that. I have found and am using the file exists monitor which is great but couldn't find a way of seaching for specific string like you can in the Event…

Marc, Thanks for the link I did checkout your GitHub too - thanks very useful indeed. I have set up the alert for our site and waiting on the Firewall team to do a fail over test to see if it works. Running it as SQL looked good on the DB though. We did the test today and it worked - I need to refine it a little as the…

Petr, This is spot on the report I was after too thanks for posting it.

Hi swebster-towson, In CISCO-REMOTE-ACCESS-MONITOR-MIB I found the following counters. CISCO-REMOTE-ACCESS-MONITOR-MIB 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.392.1.3.21.1.2.12.56.50.46.55.49.46.49.57.54.46.51.51.102195201 crasGroup.12.56.50.46.55.49.46.49.57.54.46.51.51.102195201 SnmpAdminString IP address CISCO-REMOTE-ACCESS-MONITOR-MIB…

Hi, Did you ever get this to work? We are having issues with net-snmp on HPUX too even doing a local snmpwalk it fails but using the debug we can see it is using the correct community. It just ends up with a timeout no response from localhost before it finishes the walk. Kind regards, Z

Alex, Some good idea there again - the issue is I am not really here to do NMS but they saw I had Orion on my CV and the people that got trained on it in the company have moved on they have no other people with Orion skills and I won't be round for long I'll do what I can for them knowing that it won't be touched after I…
-
tdanner, thanks for pointing me in the right direction I'll take a look and see if I can work it out. I had been looking on Powershell forums but being specific to Orion it wasn't always obvious what to use. Kind regards, Z.
-
Thanks I'll check that. It is an inherited system with no documentation on how it has been configured so working my way through it all. They have so much stuff on it that probably shouldn't be it would be easier to start from scratch but they won't let me do that
-
aLTeReGo, Yes that's what I was looking at doing. My main issue is they have nobody owning Exchange here or supporting it as a service so nobody ask even if they want it displayed this way - I am no Exchange expert myself. It seems odd to have such an important service in a company and no exchange skills to support it. I…

We too have been getting this error and the following works for us - just a shame we have to do it every time we get the error and no fix for the error - we are running 11.5.2 Hotfix 6 Could you please stop the Orion services then delete all of the files in your C:\Windows\Temp directory. Restart the Orion services and try…

Alex, Hi, yes that sounds a good idea/plan. I did state at the beginning here that it would be better to start from scratch but they have done that a number of times with other 3rd parties but never asked for or received any documentation. Not sure how that happens as I always document any installation be it…

Off to raise a support call i am either doing something very odd here or there is some logic issue in the alerting. I exported the alert to check that didn't have something odd in there but that looks OK too.

Hi I know this is an old thread but I am not a Powershell expert and trying to do something like this where it is automatically creating groups dependant on site information of newly discovered sites. Our naming convention is like this: <Company Name>_<Site Name>_<Area code>_<Site code>_<Device Type>_<primary or backup> We…

I now have another question as my template is nearly complete in SAM. On MS site I am looking to monitor the follow: Resource being monitoredDescriptionTroubleshooting suggestionsDefault High valueDefault Medium valueDefault Normal valuePrivate bytes used The PercentagePrivateBytesUsed parameter is used to monitor the…

Thanks T Rex. I am working on a SAM template with all those components in as I know that'll keep the server guy here happy. I found these for the transport service - Troubleshooting MSExchangeTransport Service Events: Exchange 2007 Help but from what I read they happen when it's too late and Back Pressure has started and…

Arani, Hi, I had something similar the other day where I wouldn't even get a response. It was hard to troubleshoot without any meaningful information. I checked another http monitor set-up before i was here that was working and found it was being polled on a different poller than I was using so i moved it to the same…
-
Thanks for the quick response - I will see if I can use that in my situation - it's the polling DataTime I have been struggling with and then getting it into an Alert when SolarWinds doesn't just allow SQL commands you have to fit it into what it gives you to start with. Looks very similar to what I had having the nested…
-
r0berth1, Hi not sure if you ever sorted this as I am having a similar problem and only found out when someone's report had half the servers missing from it as it hadn't polled for 2 weeks to those servers. If there was a way to get an alert when a specific device isn't collecting data that would work rather than finding…
-
Silverbacksays, Hi, thanks for the response - as I am not an SQL and really tripping around in the dark here where would I find the tables you mention with the timestamp fields? I have tried other date methods and found one that works but from a month previous to the day it is run: DateAdd(month, -1, Convert(date,…

Thanks for your response I'll have to see if I can find it in the templates I have or create new ones. Z.

Surely the following is so specific I shouldn't need the rest: VolumeSpaceAvailable is less than 60000000000 FullName contains (Node) -D:\ Label:Data <serial number> Using the full name there is only one but I still get the Virtual Memory alarming - I even added a trigger to not alarm on Virtual Memory but it still did???
-
John, Hi, thanks for your response - I have tried different VolumeTypes but still the same responses I can't get it to work on the D:\ drive with the VolumeSpaceAvailable is less than trigger? Kind regards, Z.
-
Oh yes sorry should have mentioned that - here they use the Q drive for Queues. I had to do the same as on the example I saw these: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\data\Queue\mail.que - for DatabaseMonitor C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\data\Queue\ - for…

This ended up being the service had stopped even though everything was telling us it was running OK. A full stop and start of the system and rep[airing the service did the trick.

Spot on Alterego - I had found all the others in THWACK so didn't think to check out the Solarwinds help which I had been using for other Monitors - doh! Many thanks.
-
Hi - yes I had been using that but when you add new components they are added in between others and if you have a large component list it can take a lot of time moving things around using just those arrows - I wondered if there was a quicker way than that. When you hover over the Component Monitor Name and click on the…

Hi, I was looking to do a report to show the connection profile is SSH or Telnet but the SQL above doesn't work for me as SQL in the WEB GUI Report designer. I can get the Connection Profile number but need to display the name - SSH, Telnet, etc. It looks like others have managed to get the SQL working is there anything…

Doh! found it at the top of the template - Rename.

Shanlon, I too am looking to get a report of some kind showing all the alerts we have configured, what nodes are using them, what the triggers are, who gets emailed, etc. as this is a new site I am on and nothing is documented and I have seen some of our alerts set to email people who have left the company. I don't want to…
