When you "manually" ssh into the device: 1 - are there any SSH limitations on the device - have you allowed the "user" @ Solarwinds.local SSH2 access; is SSH 2 access defined by IP? I think the answer is yes, because you can see where you make an initial connection, but does the user@Solwawinds.local have access to execute…

I have been in the IT industry for almost 30 years ... I have never seen anything that comes close to THWACK! I am not a member of Facebook .. I am a member of THWACK!

I found 3 suggestions that may get you pointed in the right direction. I think you need to get Cisco set up, then attempt to catch the traps in Solarwinds. In Cisco: You can configure the Real Time Monitoring tool to alert you based on multiple criterias, but I think this will be helpful: Error Message…

Let me push my monitoring over the limit on interfaces (if I can) and I will get back to you! Your issue is definitely in NPM, because SAM uses component monitors not Interface monitors.
-
If you go over... you will get notified in the banner at the top of Orion. The last items added will have a grey "box" over the green dot of the node! You will not be notified via alerting on those items. They will not be monitored. This has been my personal experience. Generally happens when I add a SQL database server.…

Map a drive from the server you are using the SFTP application on; the account you are using to SFTP must have permissions on the network share you want to use. Once you have successfully mapped the drive from to the server, you should be able to configure the SFTP application to accept the network share as the path to…

There are 2 things you can do. Give your Orion Server a Public IP address from your company's pool, NAT it thru your Internet Connection to the outside world. (I don't like this option) Set up a VPN Client on your phone or mobile device or laptop to connect to your internal network. My mobile units use NetMotion. I threw a…

I have mixed emotions! It is a dog eat dog world out there... I don't want Solarwinds wearing Milk Bone underwear! That is a quote re-written from one of my heroes... Norm, from Cheers! Norm, hows it going? Its a dog eat dog world out there and I am wearing Mile Bone underwear! I don't want things to change ... I want them…

I just did a test run of the product. Can you provide additional information - how are you attempting to install - VM Ware? Hyper-V ? I installed the virtual appliance in VM Ware, you do the initial configuration of the IP address and password via the VM console, then you can reach it by IP address in a web browser. If you…

I have a Brocade VDX 6750 running in my environment - - makes it so very easy to manage my virtual environment. I am monitoring with SNMP - I do need to upgrade Solarwinds .. I am using older version and have had not issues monitoring.
-
In VM Ware, you can do just about anything!! I am getting ready to upgrade my Orion Platform, to include IPAM, NPM, SAM, NCM, VMAN, and NTA. After a team discussion, we are going to set up a single Database server (VM Ware) that will server up: Orion DB GIS DB Accounting DB Environmental Systems DB I am pretty sure that…

Yes. Get with your sales rep, send him the SWID's, and they can link it to your account.

I am experiencing the opposite .. right now .... I had reached out to my sales rep for a few baseline quotes ... have not heard back... really strange ... as I have experienced what you all are ...

I need a little more information before I comment. I recently had a SINGLE node that started reporting a down status / up status - and there was absolutely nothing going on with the interfaces. I ended up removing the device and adding the device back into Solarwinds. This was a network device... a CORE switch. Can you…

So ... you had me .. why is this being difficult for you ... IOS version 16.3.x is not your normal IOS!!! Please refer to the below link: Software Configuration Guide, Cisco IOS XE Denali 16.3.x (Catalyst 3650 Switches) - Configuring Simple Network Manageme… This IOS software is very powerful, and I am pretty sure that you…

Is there any type of access list that you need to include your polling ip address? Do you need to identify the interface or VLAN to push/pull the traps? Can your Orion server ping the Cisco Switch? Here is a config from my past on a 3750 - has an access list, and defines the port to send the traps. Hope this helps. logging…

do a ? after snmp-server host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxxxxx ... you may need to add v2c and the community string again .... keep doing the ? until you have completed the host, version, and string

Object modification - I know what you want to do ... and .. no .. you can't do it ... I created my map in visio - then imported to SolarWinds - you can export the map - via PDF - or you can grab it from the directory - .gif - but if you attempt to import to visio - you will just have a "single" object to modify - you would…

VM Appliances - VM Composer, VM Net Perf Mon, VM Ware Horizon View Connection, VM Ware Horiozon View SQL, and NetApp SP Modeules
-
Might need more information - but ... on the Home page - click on Add Tab - then go to Customize Page - add "Custom Object Resource" - you can add Applications or Nodes - the drop down box has many options - You can change the title... etc ... let me know if you require additional information.

Transfer the config using ssh2 not scp :
-
It may be a simple permissions issue. Does the server account that you are using have permission to the server you are attempting to add to SolarWinds?

World Map .. or State.. local … I feel very small ….. compared to the rest of you all !!! I am monitoring the MPLS WAN Network:

So .. you have a couple of options ... you can "Use Latest Baseline Thresholds" - if a value hits outside of the range ... you will get notified. Or you can put a "static" value in for monitoring. OR - you can define the value ... click on the Baseline Thresholds (you can do this to a group or individual nodes) - note the…
