There is a great tool called SolarWinds Product Upgrade Advisor - The information about the tool is on the link below. There are a couple of links on that page that will also be helpful. There is an order in which you need to update. This information should point you in the right direction. SW has continued to make the…

RADIUS is used in many applications these days .. I have internal radius authentication for my wireless access points, users, and network equipment using Windows Network Policy Server (very small environment). You must also look at radius vs tacacs+ TACACS+ and RADIUS Comparison - Cisco I can't personally make any other…

I am totally cool with the hike... makes it more interesting ... I just joined in January 2016 and have almost reached 20K points!. I have more T-shirts sent to me just by participating. In fact, I just received a really nice sweatshirt hoodie for sending in a screen shot! If it were easy ,,, it would devalue the effort…

Now I have not tried the topology mapper from SolarWinds, so please give that a try! (It is on my bucket list) I have used a product called NetBrain and it does a phenominal job showing active routes. Like SolarWinds, it dynamically updates. You will need Microsoft Visio to complement NetBrain, as you will love the network…

Are you using the Orion home page? I have done exactly what you did several times... and up at the top - where you see new Discovered Items, New Blog Posts, and Product Updates ... you will see in that same location that you have exceed Licensing (it does not jump out at you or flash)... there are no notifications... stuff…

Oh my friend... you have many options... you can demo any of the products for 30 days. Download Free Network Management & Free Network Monitoring Software from SolarWinds .I would recommend you start with NCM. You can run demos on VM's ... if you have a robust enough workstation, you could even demo on that, just limit the…

Does the map display properly by itself - not in NOC mode? is the Width of the Map at least 900 px? I got all tabs working like I wanted - my home page has the Map in the middle - displays just fine.. that is why I am asking .. not in NOC mode, can you pull the map up on one of the Orion pages?

You could leverage Log and Event Manager Or you could write a custom api that uses account lockout finder to dump that information into Solarwinds

Unbelievable .. .but kind of goes with our ... let someone else worry about it society ... Customer Service, passion for your product, and the drive to constantly make things better. We are failing to teach people work ethic... and the basic principles of how human interaction can create success stories and successful…

You need to put a copy of your template in the following location (directory) on your Orion Server: \Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\APM\DefaultTemplates In APM - Go to SAM Settings - and Getting Started with SAM - Scan Nodes for Applications. Select the nodes - click next ... Now in the APM - Application Discovery - You…

None of the other SW products NPM or IPAM have what you are going after ... download the demo…

Are you looking at setting up a company to provide network performance monitoring? Your question sure did provoke me, as this would be quite expensive and require a lot of throughput ... it you have unlimited resources, then go for it! Windows Azure SQL is pretty awesome. Try a demo!

Wow, that is amazing! Thanks for sharing this article. It has been fascinating to watch the vendors come and go the last 20 years. It is a tough business decision on how to play out your technology to remain competitive, and to sustain growth of both customer base and bottom line. VM Ware should take note!!!

Make sure that you have permissions to remote in, and permissions to the computer; you are getting prompted to enter in credentials because you don't have rights. It is a Windows 10 ... security feature!!!! Yeah, they call it features. From what you both have described, it does sound like permissions.

I love this site.. I…

Wow .. been down this road too many times!!! You need to shove so many facts down the bean counters throat so that they choke; making them understand that absolutely every node/NIC/application/IP address/service has a value, and there is a cost associated to keep them running: Man hours, physical hardware, switches,…

And .. Congratulations!

Wow... I thought that someone would have responded to this question. My friend, you have asked a loaded question, but it can be figured out. I know that you are specifically referencing Solarwinds, but that answer depends tooooooo! Latency The queuing theory tells us that the busier a link gets, the longer packets have to…

I think what you want to do .. instead of setting up "static" thresholds across the board, is to gather a baseline - you will need to set each server up individually for the thresholds (I would only deal with those that you have received false positives on) . Each server performs a different function and will call upon…

The command in Linux to await user input is read -p (pause) read -p "Press [Enter] key to start backup..." You would enter the read -p to create the pause, awaiting for user input in each section that you want "user intervention".

OMG - there are only 4 of us here that understood the video ... it was hilarious... we then began talking about our friends that were .NET FREAKS or JAVA JUNKIES - I just want the "stuff" (you can enter your own expletive!) to be better secured!
