so this is a issue, what it shows is the old heritage of NCM being Cirrus and not integrated still into Orion after all this time It should be a simple option or selection. Meh.

tbh Content Exchange used to look better many years ago with lots of nifty reports made and handy helpers. These days it looks kinda slim on some of the main products. And please does everything have to be html code??? I'm not a web programmer, just a Network/Security Engineer.

Agree on that one. This group wants to use NPM for both while arch group focuses on their own stuff. I'm thinking of creating separate "groups" for network devices then servers. Then create a NPM dashboard for Network only using the group. Not sure how well Solarwinds will let me segregate with their widgets yet. One thing…

Hmmm sounds like it works but there are sooooo many servers. What happens when the VM folks vmotion a bunch of servers? Trying to remember my VM stuff, cause if the vnic drops on one side picks up on the other a physical switch might report down when it's a normal operation.

Okay that's one way to monitor things. My wonder is if a NIC goes down is it a systems problem or could it be a network problem? Do you get two alerts, one for the NIC and one for the network port?
-
okay... so you have to put these into report write somewhere, true? appreciate the tip I just wish I didn't need to be a sql ace to do a report out of the NCM database. the provided inventory stuff is so Cisco centric, why does it have to be?

again preaching to the crickets....

Is something off here? I see multiple posts of the same message? Next is thanks for the feedback, tells me I'm not alone and also someone out there is listening? a bit?

Hey I've been working on this too. Seems like it requires a bit of maybe new MIB import from Fortinet and updating the mib poller so it doesn't think it's a WLC. I also downloaded some newer Device templates and am testing those too. Solarwinds is strong on Cisco and not so much on other vendors.

again Modern Dashboard = more complexity than preferred (not lazy)
-
Probably top right.

I'd be happy if it wrapped the text even if that makes the column box longer, I could even deal with it being cut off if a mouse over shows the whole text. The thing is some of the canned provided dashboards do a three across okay sizing the text just fine but actually making one doesn't come out the same. Where's the…

Best I can tell there isn't much help from Solarwinds tech on this or from Thwack. Everything I've rad about how to create Modern Dashboards points to very steep learning curve. Not sure what is Modern about that.

fwiw I had a node that was not backing up, noticed it was unmanaged. When I set the node back to managed it started backing up again. So who knows?

Snikes!!! Powershell v7.0, json files, cli scripted commands , direct server connects, as suspected far from trivial to obtain some premade content. I like playing with Mint and Linux variations but don't have the time to spend learning all the scripting tools often.

I was going for happy place between big big pie and tiny slices for less paging by our tech mgmt.
-
Okay so I'll have to create classic dashboards in Mr. Magoo size charts for mgmt. I don't often find content that matches just what particular companies want but will look. Doing a quick scan over Modern Dashboard creation again, seems okay but is definitely going to be a time sink to get up to speed and learn all the…

I'm wondering why it won't wrap in the space provided? it's fine if I make the columns really wide but I was hoping to add a 3rd column. As for Modern Dashboards best I can tell this requires a new learning curve for some quasi-programming skills and fancy sql queries. Prefer not to have to get into some new…

so far nobody has replied. I keep having this issue using thwack, nobody seems to really participate here in sharing. Probably have to create a support case..

Well I appreciate your information about the user/admin accounts. Unfortunate I have to send such negative remarks to get any update. I've been a Solarwinds Admin for many years (off and on) and was involved in Thwack years back where it seemed the community was more active. I browsed recent posts and notice the same…

Well this is a waste of time. thwack isn't very helpful or the community. later
