CLI vs GUI, lots of good comments. My take is after years of this work is I need a tool to allow me to quickly do very technical changes or debugs to fix a complex problem. Simple tools won't ever handle that one really tough technical problem (bug, routing flap, what ever) and that mostly is why we Network professionals…

Search configs has been a jewel of the older Win32 app for years. Very fast, easy to parse out what gear to search and export results. Some newer versions of NCM moved the search to the web interface and it didn't always work. Unfortunately the web based search now is less flexible than the old Win32 where you could stack…

Okay so here's another way to look at this: who (meaning vendor) makes Network equipment that handles high end tasks and does complex operations very well with a simpler, more efficient way of configuring, managing and troubleshooting their devices? Someone mentioned above about the market. Money ALWAYS talks there is no…

Update. Many hours on phone with tech support.... finding that likely a previous "Admin" had changed or altered the All Nodes view either directly in the database or through web/java programming. After the tech guy starting looking the in the database I searched later and found tables that Id'd the All Nodes web files…

I can't find any place I can modify or update the All Nodes view and this view is messed up. that's the issue. I have a support case too.

manage views shot.

I'll be walking the aisles then..

Group folders are created when a configuration changes not when you create the group. Solved!

Here i am for rights. Seem to have it all. Also is a shot of my Customize Views... no All Nodes is present in the list?

I'm using Orion 10.4 and from the Admin>Manage Groups> area I can select the Managed Servers group and edit but there are no settings to change the group level. So far nowhere have I seen any way to change a group level once created. If this is something done using SQL tools on the database that's another thing... On the…

Well okay I suppose recent is in general terms. I was looking about two months ago.

not really an answer..

Trying to paste or add graphic to show... new on the forum. Got it! attached PDF shows example server in sub group via Node management then shows same server displaying from Tab>Groups>parent group. The parent group shows the sub groups but also displays all the nodes too. I want the groups to roll up the nodes placed in…

One issue that comes up with a job not working vs. logging and it works are the credentials. I started using AD credentials on my jobs and if I use a service login and the Systems folks don't add all the right permissions the connections fail. But when I login with my own ID downloads work great. So make sure your…

C:\Program Files (x86)\CatTools3\Dated Configs\%GroupName%\Config.Dated.Running.%BaseFile%.%DateISO%-%TimeHHMM%.txt so pasted.

how do folks around here handle screenshots? there's no paste allowed? anyway I can add a pdf later. I am Admin already. In this installation under Manage Views in the views listing there is no All Nodes view listed. ;-( Sounds like it's time for a support case.

Yea why the disrepect of F5 at SW?
-
Very helpful, thanks!

probably not around but thanks this is helpful!

Tried and got nada. I implemented the custom fields added the values as the instructions laid out. I removed the comments like some of the posts suggested and am running it in the Web interface. So no resutls just 0's or a huge negative value on one interface. So sorry but seems like a wasted a morning, time I don't have…

After implementing this I too got nothing in the optimized column. I read the posts and took out the comments but still no results. Does SW audit of these things work at all? Anyway if Haley has any tricks or info on how to make this work that'd be great. I'd like to see some stats and our Riverbeds.

I ran the Beta on SQL Server 2012 and it worked okay. I don't think there's much difference in the '12 to '14 versions.

Hey Solarwinds this is a RIPOFF! You used to offer a real free tool THIS IS NOT FREE to use and keep but a limited trial of the full blown IPAM! Your "update" is to again take away something you could use about anywhere to a huge trial app that installs a ton of stuff on your laptop to push IPAM. I've introduced Solarwinds…

Most Cisco Layer 2 devices do not support Netflow. Netflow is a more Layer 3 data collection. Also rather than the switch it's better to gather Netflow at the primary Layer 3 interfaces that traffic from the switich has to pass thru.

Now I'm dealing with this issue too. Vote for having IPAM merge DHCP split scopes into one subnet by default and not have to export/recreate/import stuff to make existing database whole. Right now I have a split scope that has the right name in DHCP section but totally wrong name in IP Subnets display. I've used IPAM to…

Yes indeed right after they start growing grapes and making wine in Saudia Arabia!

First time poster (NCM) long time user, back to Cirrus days. In my current company I've had them upgrade Orion, add NCM and IPAM to get into decent shape. NCM is version 7.1.1 and based on what I see in the new demo and on thwack I WILL NOT be upgrading NCM until I have to. The Web UI is not Usable! I'm not going to whine…
