Well said! Especially "who is watching the watchers?" In my opinion, that's an extremely important question given the snowden revelations and having read stories about the potential IRS targeting among other scandals.I am not necessarily against surveillance but i do have concerns and believe in oversight and that everyone…

matt.matheus, I apologize that it took me so long to reply. mfmahler, I apologize for not elaborating. I guess I meant wary and for the same reasons stated above. My biggest issue is with trust. I also find that open source can be more time consuming to support. I agree completely that there is a time and place for open…

I believe in user device tracking but also have mixed feelings about how much. We use MaaS 360 and I just purchased Solar Winds UDT. It's certain software like Spector Soft that I have mixed feelings about.

I received a help desk ticket in which a user was saying that they couldn't close out of certain applications. They stated that every time they hit the red X it would minimize but not close out. After trying unsuccessfully to walk this user through accepting my screen share request, I realized I was going to have to make a…

Yes, that's the exact problem that I was having. I redeployed and that didn't work. I then checked the firewall and ports on the machine that I was deploying this to and then decided to put this on a 2008R2 machine which corrected the issue for me. I see that you are already on a 2008R2 machine. Please share the solution…

Although we don't use NCM, I do use NPM and UDT. I use NPM daily to monitor network performance and troubleshoot bandwidth issues. From reading the above posts, I am going to look into NCM,

Yes I had assigned applications to the sensor. I have scrapped this sensor and decided to retry on another server. I think the problem was with the server not meeting the min requirements. It was running server 2008. All of my other deployments are on servers running either server 2008r2 or 2012r2. I haven't went back and…

Great discussion. I can relate to several of the posts. In my experiences, I have perceived it as laziness. The guys just don't want to learn the new technology and keep up with the changes. And I have heard the "if it isn't broke don't fix it excuse too".
