Would any of you guys know if an ESX host is rebooted, would it still send out a down email? I'm looking at some logs from PRTG (we use SolarWinds and PRTG to monitor our systems) and it reported one of our ESX hosts were shut down and eventually went up, but i never recieved an email from our SolarWinds. However, i…

There should still be a free version of Mobile Admin for SAM or NPM Customers. I think this is the link for the info (don't worry its on Solarwind's website ): Free Mobile Monitor for NPM or SAM I installed it on my pc not too long ago, it has some serious limitations in what the free version has access to, but its still…

did you ever get this figured out? My boss wanted me to see if there was a way to add a Minuteman PR01000RT with one of the SNMP-NET card and was snooping around to see if there is any way to do so
-
I'm supposed to upgrade today to attempt a fix that was similar to that. I tried a config wiz on the website and that ended up failing at the last minute.. we'll see how this goes >.>

I actually have both where I work and I use both, although yea I definitely swing a more towards SolarWinds. I could post a long review (maybe I will later just for future reference ) But one thing i really do like for SolarWinds is how modular the Orion platform is. You may not need specific features now, but later you…

are you asking about how to navigate things better? then you could watch: [VIDEO] SolarWinds Lab #29: Orion Cribs - View, User, and Resource Customization or if that link doesn't work Orion Cribs - View, User, and Resource Customization - SolarWinds Lab #29 - YouTube There are also probably a bunch of posts around about…

Has this been answered yet? I seem to be having a similar problem
-
Yea saw a comment under the sneak peak of it and checked the customer portal. Pulled a 9 hour upgrade last night on another system, why not do a massive Solarwinds upgrade today? Can't wait to see whats new!

Hey Sunayan, I dug around for a couple of minutes, the only thing I was thinking was if there was a way to merge your databases. Unfortunately that is not an option (See Merge two SolarWinds databases - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support ) There is this article that someone had the same question (Combining two NPM…

Lol can't say i've gotten all the swag, but I got the Swag that i reallly wanted, wasn't sure whether there would be new stuff that i'd like and save my points for that
-
Can't imagine why it would have an effect on the system, i'm almost positive our Orion platform only keeps logs and statistics for about a week
-
I figured out our issue. It was caused by an incorrect sender email. A while back we had switched the email of Solarwinds's sending address in the default field and seen below. However, it doesn't push the changes to any of the old alerts, so I needed to change the sender address under each and every one of the alert…

I actually found my old poll I created when I was (still am) learning SolarWinds : there are some more comments and suggestions in there ^^ best of luck!
-
Well obviously you could look around on thwack, there are lots of neat things on here that you could apply and learn In addition i've heard lots of people say good things about the Loop1 SolarWinds training courses (SolarWinds Training & Professional Services | Loop1 Systems, Inc.). Those are online or i believe they also…

I was born and raised In Toronto, but moved away when I was 12, but I still fly my Canadian flag and represent Canada while i'm down here in Florida
-
Totally not sure if this'll work but perhaps an alert like this? This particular one will fire on a specific node, although you could totally do it on a bunch of nodes if you wanted. but theoretically it fires when that node's interface goes down AND the interface's descrip is UPLINK. This is just an idea, so i haven't…

We use Keepass, and its pretty good as long as people actually remember to update any changed passwords
-
Did you ever figure out a way to do it? i'm about to try the same thing, but I figured i'd look on Thwack first
-
You can go under "Edit" On the report and create a advanced filter, Here is an example: Caption Not Like 'test*' This will make it so any nodes beginning with test will not be shown on that report. Hope this helps ^^
-
you could do config changes in that list, just make sure you don't bombard yourself with too many alerts that you miss the important ones
-
hmmm, are they only on some specific nodes? Try creating another alert that maybe writes to a file or something on the specific nodes that are sending the tons of alerts and take those nodes off the other alerts. This will help cut down on whether your alert is set up a little weird or if it is something on only specific…

You could look around the manufacturer's website for a MIB for your device, if not you could also search the MIB DB in the Universal Device Poller
-
is the device already being monitored by NPM?
-
aighty Thank you ^^ a superior asked me about that security threat asking if we had that program, and I got a tad confused never hearing of that product
-
Upgraded to NPM 11.5.2 and NCM 7.4 about 2 weeks ago and its been stable as far as i can tell, even fixed a few of the problems we had the previous weeks
-
I went about unlocking ours in a little different way. We knew who had locked it but from his computer (because we installed Network Atlas on our actual computers too) we couldn't unlock it. I went into the Database Manager ->SQL DB -> NetPerfMon->MapStudioFiles, and found the entry and modified it there
-
I don't think that is implemented yet (I could totally be wrong tho ) but there is feature request for it already if you want to vote up on the idea ^^
-
Thats weird, i've been on one tech support case for almost 2 weeks... Was having a problem getting everything up and running after a failed wizard config, and the guy at SolarWinds helped me through and diagnosed everything, first meeting lasted 3 hrs, second one was 2 hrs and the last one we ended up installing the newest…
-
was gonna say i've typically had a good response from their tech support, although i have had i think 1 or 2 cases where i didn't hear back for maybe a week or so, but i put it as a low priority and it wasn't a biggie either
-
Not sure if this helps, but i wanted to create a new map for each of the specific group details and stumbled across this: Custom Maps for Group Details Page , Cheers!
