ecklerwr1 - perfect totally agree with you on that, we keep it between 8-10K as we consume few traps and syslog messages as well.

I am assuming you already have a primary poller and in addition to the same you want to build a APE to handle additional infra monitoring. What the documentation states is the best practices, what they are trying to convey here is a single solarwinds server (APE in your case can handle 12K elements for NPM + upto 10K…
-
Sure, if you crack it please do post the same on this thread - thanks akhasheni
-
, I never got an answer for that yet. Either in the DB directly or re-add the server to Solarwinds which is not feasible & defn not a good approach
-
Polling rate or more weight on your poller - have frequent maintenance schedules to keep your poller healthy - monthly server reboot + remove unwanted monitors from your system. If more number of monitors are unknown try restarting the services for sure you would see the difference if this works then we can dig deep into…

aLTeReGo - Hi, do we know if this would work by any chance ?
-
Yes, Use Custom attributes, create a new custom attribute on node level like say Escalation Email, but you will have to enter the email ids for each node in this case and use ${Nodes.Escalation.Email} on the action that you create on your alert - if you go with this its more generic and managing alerts would be easy
-
Hi , I am not sure about attributes related to msend you might to check for that , but then if you are using Advanced Alert Manager You can add 2 entries on your Alert Trigger Action - Add new action "Execute an external program", that would still achieve the same result you are looking for First entry -…

Consider this if my previous point was rite.... do not check and include V: for now, go back to the node remove existing Volume V: and then get back to list resource check V: and click on submit
-
Probably the volume has been renamed, do me a favor run a list resource on this particular node and let me know if Volume V: is checked , if its unchecked then for sure the index/name of the volume has changed.

Login into Orion Report scheduler and check for the report that you are receiving through mails(Run->Type "Report scheduler and open the same", you would see the list of schedules here, double click on the schedule and goto actions tab - check if your email id is present there). I guess from NPM 10.7 these reports are web…

Brocade devices can be polled, Cisco UCS can be polled (UCS Credentials required), not sure about Prism though. But you will have to go much deeper to understand whats required for you. Hope it helps
-
What version of NPM are you using?
-
Basic query, do you have sufficient space on the server disk drive ? C:\ or D:\ where ever this is installed ?
-
Thanks Jordan - just check with the Solarwinds/NPM guy to do a ping test from the Solarwinds poller to which these servers are added to. Solarwinds will not show a UP if node/server added is not reachable from Solarwinds poller (could be that the ping test is not failing from Solarwinds poller). For time being if at all…
-
Where are you pinging the node from , did you ping the node from the poller you added it to?
-
Looks good pratikmehta003

Hi pratikmehta003 NPM and SAM together, you gotta plan it accordingly my friend. Dont completely rely on the threads, get a proper view on the infrastructure that needs to monitored and baseline the requirement accordingly. To the best of my knowledge, if these folks are working together then its 12K elements (NPM) + 10K…
-
1. Yes its same as that on the primary poller (same instructions to be followed for additional poller as well), but then you will have different bits for the additional poller with the same version (NPM/SAM) - I am not sure if you have separate additional poller bits for IPSLA MGR (Currently its VNQM), in case you don't…

Yup that's correct, files under /tmp folder are being deleted, check with you server team - they might have a cleanup script for /tmp. If you can still not fix it, try using a different folder rather than /tmp (make changes on the component monitor from /tmp to /folder<that can be accessed>.
-
Try using "X,Y Capture Mode" marked in RED Circle as soon as you start the recording and complete your transaction. Let me know if it works now. I have as well assumed that the account you have logged in with into Solarwinds have sufficient rights.
-
Re-adding the node does fix this sometimes but then that's not a proper workaround - that would raise more questions as to why etc
-
I have seen this issue in the past, you are right even though we add it as ICMP it happens and it shows as down on Solarwinds even though its reachable from the poller that its added onto. Open a Support case with Solarwinds to fix it.
-
No matter what I would suggest you to keep your environment as simple and generic and clean as possible, permanent solution for such scenarios is based on how you design your alerts. If you want to go with a generic plan then follow this (no additional intervention is required when you plan it like this): 1. Firstly, don't…
-
On your webpage just click on 'Settings -> All Settings -> Polling Engines' to verify the same, you will only see your primary or main polling engine on it in that case.
-
Nice , below are few simple tips to avoid an alert flood 1. Firstly, don't start everything in parallel in such a scenario, once you start your database give it a few minutes like say 5 min approx, then start your services on Orion and give it some time to settle in (like say 5 mins) as your pumping everything at once.…
-
Are you seeing any DB timeout errors on EventViewer->Solarwinds app log ?
-
true, we never got to know if the person who posted it got a permanent fix to it
-
Looks like an old issue, restarting solarwinds services is the actual workaround to fix this, i have pasted a similar post from the past Agent Status- Unknown
