Not sure, I only asked because I have used KS-Soft Advanced Host Monitor, that lets you restart a service or reboot a pc on a failure. This is done out of the box, without havingto write your own scripts. Are there any plans to add this functionality in APM V2? Just trying to compare this with APM. Thanks.

Your assumptions are correct. I was looking at purchasing this module, maybe a AL100 to go with my Orion SLX and ran into your problem. I was concerned if SP4 fixed your issue, but like you said it looks like your issue is unique. So yes, I was looking for the all clear. Quick question, can APM "restartE a service if it…

Hmmm, SW do you know if APM will fix this issue? Ralphr, did ou test out the APM V2 beta to see if has resolved it? Thanks.
-
So did SP4 fix this problem or not?

Denny, I think its pretty obvious how the community feels about the VOIP & NTA add-on pricing. We are close to making a decision on where to go for the Netflow monioring (NTA or Scrutinizer). I would love to you NTA, but to be perfectly honest unless the pricing structure changes, solarwinds will continue to loose out to…

huh. Just tested it, with the Network Summary Home string and it worked! You the man! Can't believe I made such a school-boy error! Thanks for everyones help :) p.s. Does anyone have a pop or smtp script that will allows to login with a username and password, similar to the httploging script? Thanks.
-
I have tried this script and it always seems to show as be working, even when I put a wrong username and password in. Please see below the four lines which I changed in the script. str_url="http://IP ADDRESS" str_find = "" str_user = "TEST" str_pwd = "WRONG" Can you see what I am doing wrong?
-
IE does not pop up! I have tried many different URL's, eg: 1.1.1.1/.../Login.aspx http://1.1.1.1/ Note, IP changed for security reasons.
-
Excellent, I will give it a try. Is their an example one for SMTP or POP?
-
HTTP Login Script? what is this and where do I find it? Also our SMTP Server requires authentication, with a user name and password. I was gonna ask in a seperate thread if this could be done. So am I correct in assuming that this (SMTP authentication) as well as the http login cannot be done without writing a script? If…

Ok, thanks for that explanation. Can you please confirm if what I am trying to do is achievable with this 1 alert or not? I think a single alert should be able to do this, but I can't say that I've analyzed the precise logic of what you've posted. Why not try it with some lab devices? Or try it in production and see if it…

OK, I have tried this and I get the same PASSED result, regardless of what username I have in there, it will fail however if I insert a string that is not on the page after you have logged in. So I dont understand how it is logging in with the incorrect username. I have logged off, opened a new browser, and everytime I log…

Is there a test where you can enter a username and password, so you can test a web site with login?
-
The basic difference between the two alert engines is that the Basic engine works in memory as part of the poller. The Advanced Alert Engine is a separate service that checks the database periodically and alerts based off of those values. Suppressing alerts based on network topology is not as easy as we'd like with…

As I have about 6000 elements on my main Orion SLX Poller, I think I am pushing the box near it's limits. So if I install NTA on the same box, there is a chance that I could push my poller over its limits because NTA is quite resource intensive I believe. What would you guys recommend I do before I do this? Thanks.

Denny, can we have a look at the current roadmap for APM?
-
That is an interesting take on it! But I still think the customers should have the choice of which licenses the should have, without being tied to the most expensive option. In fact I think that SW would probably make more sales, as much much more customers would buy the smaller versions than a few buying the larger…

Do you mean on the browser, so the IIS solarwinds site in reference to the remebering of the password? Also how do you run the HttpLogin.vbs file from the command line? Thanks.
-
Wow, thanks for posting that thread mate. Does anyone have any screenshots of this code implemented? I just wanna get a few ideas of how to inmplement this. Thanks.

#47368 - "8.5.1 web site stops working after a day!" I have sent over the diag file. Thanks.

OK, I have just finished testing with Advanced alerts in 8.5 Here is what I am trying to do: Create an alert for when simple nodes go down and up. Also suppress the simple nodes if an upstream device goes into down or warning state. I have created this one alert that does all of the above using the basic alerts and it…

OK, so you dont let other distributors sell old software? Good thing I didn't buy it then.
-
I'm certainly no SQL expert, but I believe it will consume a greater amount of memory than that of the actual data footprint (caching actual queries and such). With that said, over time, even a 4GB db might consume all the memory to which it's allocated. Whether or not you would see any noticeable improvement on…

Hmm, any joy with this? I have/am trying to implement a similar redundancy. I am trying to implement "Site" redundancy, so that if our UK site went down, then our US site would take over. There are various options for this, but one requirement would be that it would have to be automatic! The problem is that there are 2…

Yes, this makes sense and does work, UNTIL the UP reset alerts come through! Don't forget this 1 alert is meant to trigger when devices are DOWN and Trigger when devices come back up, whilst suppressing these down & up if the Router or switches go down. Any ideas how this can be done in this one alert?

Sorry for the last response. Hmm this might work I will be trying it out soon and I will let you know of my findings... Thanks.

Just trying to put together a justification to management about pruchasing additional modules, with OSI Network layer referencing, i.e. Orion monitors layers 1-4, but with APM we can monitor layer 7, etc. So there's no official documentation then?
-
Ah, great news on the APM. What about NTA, VOIP, Wireless modules? Thanks.
