Nice write-up, and great idea for helping to save your organization money!

+1 to the timing! We were just approved licensing for DPA, and I will be going through the installation and configuration this week or next.

Right on--I hope you don't think I was making an assumption. I just wanted to be on the same page. I'm not certain on every variable LEM uses to determine the license needed, but I would make a guess that the host OS plays a large role in that. In short, I'm afraid there likely is not a way to license a non-workstation as…

I'm not certain doing so would be ethical, if possible. If I am understanding the question, that would be circumventing the enterprise licensing for a cheaper model and taking advantage of the product's licensing levels. I doubt it's your intention to do that (to take advantage), so I think the best advice that I can give…

I re-recorded the transactions using the X,Y mode like you suggested, and that resolved my problems! Thank you!

Thanks joe.tran! I just upvoted that feature request.

It was driving me crazy not being able to find it in my environment--thinking that it was a botched installation or something. Thank you jhandberg for solving this, and thank you gwebler for bringing this up!

Are there some obvious "next steps" that I have overlooked implementing this template? The most alerting I am receiving is in the active alerts pane. I would like to configure the alert to email me the Windows event detail (e.g., "User John.Smith is locked out" or "Admin Joe.Person attempted to change the password of User…

Hey rschroeder, once you have configured an alert for the selected node or interface, I believe this is possible through Edit Alert > Trigger Action > Add Action > Execute an NCM Action I hope this helps!

rschroeder just created an awesome write-up a couple weeks ago outlining a report he and his team uses to identify switch port usage: Rick's Favorite Report #1: Display the last time data was transmitted or received on any switch's ports Have a look, maybe that will help you.

I figured this out. In SAM Settings > Manage Assigned Application Monitors, any nodes with a grayed-out/unknown status indicator are "unlicensed" and not actively being monitored within SAM. I deleted these grayed application monitors, and the licensing count has come back to manageable levels.

Are you perhaps running into a license limitation? LEM is licensed by node count, much like many of the other SolarWinds products. I believe it will just reject additional nodes once you reach the limit. Another thought; are the switches (or your LEM, or other syslog server) that do not work on another subnet or behind an…

I've got this same issue. Our daily reports (HTML) increased from ~500kb to ~2MB immediately following the same upgrade as you've listed.
