If think if you add a trigger condition to your packet loss alert so that the Node must have a status of UP then that should suppress the alert. .

Would love this and would save so much time

You ever get that issue sorted? The same is happening to me at the minute

This is a great request. We have been asked for this a number of times. A noc view that includes Active Alerts but only display the Critical active alerts in one screen and warning active alerts in another screen.

Hi Joshua, Thanks for pointing out those PercentErrors fields in SWQL. I had seen them in the perf stack and was wondering where the data was being pulled from. I was looking to create an alert using the stats but I am running into a few issues when running queries against those fields. In SWQL Studio any time I try and…

You can limit users access using account limitations then it doesn't matter if they manually change the view or not.

Hi Guys, I had the same problem with the w3wp.exe process eating all the memory. I applied this fix from support last night. So far it seems to have worked. Try the following steps to resolve the w3wp.exe high cpu and memory usage: Open IIS Manager Expand Application pools, right-click on the DefaultAppPool, and Choose…

Hi alphabits, Yes we completed the upgrade and put both DBs on the same instance, we were kind of backed into a corner in the end and just had to take a leap of faith. So far it is running without any implications. We have DPA monitoring the DB instance will track to see how it goes as the tables get bigger. We found the…

Thanks jreves. We are due to upgrade NTA next week, we have a virtual 2016 SP1 SQL server (standard) with 20 cores and 192G ram available. We have a large enough estate with 8 additional pollers, 13k nodes, 50k interfaces, 9k volumes, 10k nodes on NCM, 4k IPSLA operations and 132k/second Flows to NTA on 1.1 TB fastbit…

Does anyone know what affect APM or Netflow has on the pollers is? Surely the number of pollers is reduced if APM is polling on the same server.
-
Hi jreves would love to hear your thoughts on the above and your experience on the combined DB server requirements.
-
Great post Ciag, Question on the number of polls needed to complete a polling cycle. I'll use 1000 Interfaces as an example. You say the default threshold is 9 min and if you have 1000 interfaces polling at 4.5min interval that equates to 2000 polls. That is fine. But that only takes into account Statistic pollers. Do you…

Hi foonly, So we had a very useful session today with one of the NTA developers. He performed the actions below and the errors have now stopped - we will have to monitor to see if they come back. Stop NTA service on the affected poller. In the ActiveBackupStateStorage table, delete any records where GroupKey is equal to…

Right again sedmo. I had been trying with numbers as well but i was using Volume.Status and not Volumes.Status. Thanks a million!

If the above doesn't work. Just create another rule to match your text and in the actions select discard syslog (if you want to delete it) and stop processing rules(don't omit this part even if you discard the message or it will not work). Then make sure your new rule comes before the one that sends the email. Thats the…

hi foonly I asked if I should reinstall like you said and they said that they didn't think that would resolve it permanently. So we sent them off more details and they are working with the dev team to see if they could find the root cause of the issue. I am deleting the messages from the events table each day to keep the…

Hi foonly, I have a call open too - Case # - 00210619. Provided captures, SNMP walk etc. Most recent update is they have asked us to set the flow-export delay flow-create to 60. I cannot see it making a difference but will set it, to rule it out. The device is a customers so we have to jump through approval hoops to make…

Would love to have the time to do a custom asp page but it would take me too long I'm afraid. Maybe you could help me one last time on a similar topic. In the All Volumes view I am trying to dop another filter which I thought would have been very straightforward. I want to display all the volumes that have a status of…

Aggghhhhhhh, currently banging my head on the desk. That works perfect. I have no idea why it didn't work for me earlier I must have been mistyping. thanks for your help.

Hey, I'd love to see that script if it was possible. Would save me starting from scratch

We Created two columns in "custom properties for nodes" - Site and Site_Information. When we add a new device to Orion I copy the details from another device or fill in new details in each of the cells. Then I customised the Node details page and added the "Custom Properities for Nodes" section (its under the "Node Detail…

Strange, I have had our parsers doing this very task for some time. You may have done some or all of these but the below steps is how I troubleshoot any issues with the parser. Put the rule in question at the top of the list so that no other rules are having any affect (i.e if one of them is even taging the trap then it…

Thanks for that info cahunt. That's what we had planned originally but we are nervous about how the installer will handle the fact it will be a new server with no record of the current NTA version. Where you installing on a fresh PPE server or doing an in place upgrade? Thanks Tony

Hi, There are a number of ways to display the nodes and everyone has a different approach to it. I use the tree method and use 3 different custom properties to group the Nodes (I believe 3 is the max) So I have created 3 custom properties and populated them (in the custom properties section) for each node. Tag1/Tag2/Tag3…

I agree that would be very useful. But it would be amazing if you could also build an alert filter around the Event ID's. I know you can filter the Event ID's on the individual log forwarders but when you have 50 of them its a huge pain changing them all! And pattern matching in the current format can be tricky.
-
We would also love this feature. We currently get around it by showing a list of selected items from custom properties but its far from ideal.

Can I add a big PLEASE to this request. We have started using the traps a lot more lately and the latest improvements have been welcome. However the detail provided is one of the biggest drawbacks with our engineers moaning quite a lot that other tools give more information / useful information.

I had this error across 6 of our additional pollers. After deleting the windows/temp folder on each of them they are now all returning results again. So looks like the query is having trouble counting all the files in the folder and then times out. Also good to know it has little to do with the number of actual jet files…

The hotfix worked a treat and APM is all back to normal now without having to do anything else. Thanks for your time and effort.
